(Apologies for the pic quality, I'll get decent ones when the snow has gone)
I've only had this car a few weeks I'm ashamed to say. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, far from it. It's just not the kind of car I normally buy but I simply can't resist a mint, original car and that is what this is; a Mk III Golf Gti that is as original and unmolested as you could wish for.
MOT until January 2011
Tax until July 2010
Hpi Clear
105k miles (that's just 7.5k per year!) with Full Service History (Half Vw & half independent; Awesome Gti & PSI Tuning). Last serviced at 102k and cambelt changed at 90k.
Original leather wallet containing original service book, manuals etc plus old MOT's and stack of receipts including a £14k(!) bill of sale from 1998. Car also comes with spare key and numbers (so often lost) required to get additional keys cut.
3 previous owners (1st owner until 1998 and the 2nd & 3rd owners were father & son and dedicated Vw enthusiasts)
Spec
Good spec including rare electric sunroof and air con combo in addition to 4 x EW, PAS, ABS, twin airbags, 2 x trip computers (both working), original option Sony single slot CD player, front fogs, alloys and split fold rear seat.
There are 2 non standard items on this car. The first (although it is not an obvious addition) are front & rear Eibach anti roll bars. The 2nd owner (a mature gent whom I met when buying this car) had them fitted at a cost of nearly £400 to improve the handling but rest assured that this was not ill fitted rubbish added by a reckless teen owner!
The second sensible addition is a TOAD total closure alarm and immobiliser which also includes remote central locking (not standard on a Mk III Gti). It comes with both fobs, a magnetic system override key and original instructions/information pack/proof of install which you will probably need for insurance purposes.
Exterior
Mint original dragon green metallic paintwork which is hard to fault. I've had a good look around it and I can only find a few minor blemishes and the odd stone chip which have been carefully touched in. It would shame many a younger car. It really is immaculate and wearing it's original dealer sticker, tax disc holder and number plate. It is also Hpi clear as mentioned earlier.
Interior
As with the exterior it is mint and original. Never smoked in and very fresh. If I was nitpicking the carpet in the boot on the back of the rear seat has started to come away but like I said, I'm nitpicking!
Mechanical
Starts, stops, pulls well and has no known faults. It is also worth noting that I'm getting between 35 & 37mpg on my extra urban commute which I think is pretty darn good for a 2 litre car.
Bad Points?
None really, I'll have to nitpick again! The front pads were an advisory on the recent MOT and something I would've changed in the next month or so. This is both a cheap (and potentially a DIY) job. In addition the front tyres are down to the last 3-4mm. Perfectly legal but something to bear in mind.
And Finally....
There you have it then, an immaculate low owner, low mileage, mint, original, unmolested Golf Gti in excellent order and ready to drive away. Bearing in mind all this I would like £1595 o.n.o. for the car. Not the cheapest but one of the best and I'm sure you could waste alot of time and money going to view cheaper examples that will require alot of work and still never be as good as this one. Save yourself some time and view this Golf first.
Cheers,
Andy
